Mixing

Client Will Receive:

  • A full intense listen through of their song (during which, Mark will take detailed notes highlighting certain aspects that he would like to bring out and fix)

  • Proper Gain-Staging

  • Carving EQ and Compression allowing instruments to sit and play well with each other, pulling them together nicely

  • Tasteful Reverb and Delays

  • Automation and additional sweetening as necessary

  • Mixes will be sent as an MP3 file (brought up to commercial level for listening)

  • Final Mix will be delivered through email as a full resolution (same as the initial tracks provided) WAV file with levels optimized for mastering

  • Initial Mix and 2 revisions

Attention:

This service does NOT include:

  • Editing or Tuning - This is part of the recording/editing phase. Mark expects fully edited, tuned, and finalized multitrack files, which are consolidated and labeled by instrument/source clearly. All files should have the exact same start time so that Mark may simply pull all of the tracks into a new session and they will be properly aligned. *No files should be digitally distorted (aka "clipping")*

  • Mix Observation - Mark mixes alone - no one may sit in on a mixing session. Mark works better and faster by himself, allowing him to give you the best possible final product

*All files are delivered upon full payment, no exceptions*

Mastering

Client Will Receive:

  • A full intense listen through of their song (during which, Mark will take detailed notes highlighting certain aspects that he would like to bring out and fix)

  • Proper correcting EQ and Compression (for clarity and punch)

  • Possible additional sweetening as necessary

  • Level and file optimization for commercial release and broadcast

  • Masters will be sent as a MP3 file and a full resolution (same as the initial mix received) WAV file

  • MP3s can have metadata stored within them upon request

  • Initial Master and 2 revisions

Attention:

This service does NOT include:

  • Editing, Tuning, or Mixing - These are part of the recording/editing/mixing phases. Mark expects a fully edited, tuned, and mixed "2-track" (one interleaved [L/R channels only] single file), which is clearly named. Please allow a little room (about 5 seconds of silent space) on either side of the track to give Mark enough room to work properly. *No file should be digitally distorted (aka "clipping")*

  • Mastering Observation - Mark masters alone - no one may sit in on a mastering session. Mark works better and faster by himself, allowing him to give you the best possible final product

*All files are delivered upon full payment, no exceptions*

Transfers

Client Will Receive:

  • A physical inspection of each reel, tape, or vinyl including its casing for any important data or calibration, as well as spotting of damages or other problems which can interfere with the transferring process

  • Vinyl cleaning for clearest transfer

  • Tape Baking - if necessary (this process can take up to 16 hours)

  • Play-through and recording of audio on properly operating, calibrated, and cleaned machines for the safest and clearest possible transfer

  • Recordings will be made at proper levels to ensure no digital distortion (aka "clipping")

  • Transfers of digital media will be recorded at the same Sample Rate and Bit Depth for a 1:1 digital transfer

  • Transfers of analog media will be recorded at the highest possible (or agreed upon) Sample Rate and Bit Depth for the most detailed transfer possible

  • Tracks will be delivered as individual files in a folder (separated by event/artist/song/take), which will be zipped and emailed

  • Tracks and folders will be named with as much information as possible for the best cataloging

  • Original medium will be returned to the client upon completion of transfer

Attention:

  • Mark almost always performs transfers alone. He works much faster and with ease by himself.

  • Mark holds the right to deny the transferring of any medium which appears to be in too bad of a condition to hold up through the transferring process

  • Mark is not liable for any damages or destruction of the material being transferred. The process is not always an easy one, and complications can occur. The client must agree to hold full liability and legal responsibility for their own property in the transportation and throughout the transferring process of the medium. Therefore, the client cannot press charges in the case of the medium being damaged or destroyed during the transferring process and/or is unable to be transferred due to such damages or destruction.

  • Media and the information stored on it must be the property of the client. Mark will not transfer vinyl records or cassettes or reels of copyrighted material that is not registered to the client.

*All files are delivered upon full payment, no exceptions*

Restoration

Client Will Receive:

  • A full intense listen through of their track (during which, Mark will take detailed notes highlighting certain aspects that he would like to bring out and fix)

  • Restored files will be sent through email as the same format in which it was received, or a full resolution WAV file

  • Rate includes 1 Restoration to the fullest of Mark and his software's capabilities

Be aware that restoration is a subtractive procedure, we can take away unwanted sound, but can not add what is not there. A poor quality recording will unfortunately stay a poor quality recording.

We can remove hiss, hum, clicks, pops, some distortion, and remove some reverb tails; but if the sound is not present in the recording, we can not add it in.

Attention:

  • Restoration Observation - Mark restores audio alone, as it is a very intense, delicate, and long process - No one may sit in on a restoration session.

  • Mark holds the right to deny the restoration of any file which appears to be in too bad of a condition to be restored

  • Mark does not guarantee an absolutely perfect restoration, only a restoration to the best of his abilities.

*All files are delivered upon full payment, no exceptions*
